I Absolutely Love You

I wanted to make a quick page with a lot of impact... so I went with a white background, layered strips of paper, and used a simple circle grid pattern to finish it off. Sticking with one company's line kept the look cohesive, while still using lots of varitey in colors and patterns. Simple.

Cupcakes and Cards

Aren't cupcakes just the happiest treats?! Just a quick little card to give as a cheerful thank you for some pretty cupcakes. [I wish they were gluten free so I could try one! But I sure do think they are lovely!]

Love, Bike Rides, & Instagram

I just love going on tandem bike rides with My Danny! We ride all over town, and have such fun adventures! People honk and wave at us wherever we go. I guess we're quite the sight to behold! I don't usually want to carry around my DSLR when biking, so snapping an Instagram photo here and there is the perfect solution to capturing the little moments along the way! I loved this shot so much I thought it would be fun to enlarge as an 8x8. I had originally intended on using it in my Project Life album, but couldn't resist scrapping with it on a traditional 12x12 page.

This page came together rather quickly and I kinda love how it turned out! It's cheerful and fun, just like our bike ride adventures! I quite liked how the page looked before adding journaling, but because the stories are important to me, I had to include something. Easy Solution: Hidden Journaling. I helped develop and create the artwork for an entire book (found here) on interactive pages, so this was a fun element to include. By simply avoiding placing adhesive to the area where you want to place your hidden journaling, you can make a perfect little pocket. This is a great option for those pages that don't quite have the right spot for journaling, or for a message that you want to keep more private.

Want to see a fun project this photo inspired? Check out my friend Jeana's project over here at the Silhouette blog! Oh, I can't wait to purchase a Silhouette soon!! I might need those exact pillows!

Little Discoveries

Life is about the little discoveries... I think artists and children are both rather adept at taking in the world around them... perhaps that's why Miss M. and I have so much fun together! She's always sure to share her excitement with me whenever she finds a smooth rock, a butterfly flits by, or she sees a rainbow. We have so much fun together!!

Interior Inspiration: Stripes and Florals

Source

I love looking to fashion and interior design for inspiration on my pages. Combining stripes and florals has been a huge trend over the last year... Mixed patterns are so playful and unexpected... It's rather liberating to make such a bold statement and know that, at least for the moment, you are right in style;) Takes me right back to childhood, when you dressed yourself and nobody cared if your ensemble was a bit unusual.

Scrapbooking A-Fair: Carnival 2010

This page uses the design principle the Rule of Thirds to balance a variety of patterns, colors, and embellishments. Arranging like elements in a visual triangle is pleasing to the eye, and a great trick for pulling a composition together. I've placed the photos and title slightly off-center and broken up colors and patterns into groups of threes. I often use a prominent color in the photograph as one part of the triangle. I'm one who generally prefers asymmetry over symmetry, and I like to use the Rule of Thirds to maintain balance on an otherwise off-set design. I use the Rule of Thirds when taking photographs as well--stronger photos make stronger pages, but we'll talk more about that in some future posts.

Life and Love: Scrapbook It...

Welcome to my new scrapbooking blog! I'm so excited to have a place where I can focus on all things scrapbooking--tips, techniques, tutorials, trends... I love it all! Taking everyday pictures, telling everyday stories, and playing with pretty paper--that's what I do best! I scrapbook everything for my trip to the market, or what I ate for breakfast, to bigger occasions, like the guestbooks I create for Peachie's Photo Parlour. Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear what you think!

Right Now

Glitter, Washi tape, chevrons, and sunny yellow hearts... what could be more cheerful! I love looking to trends in fashion and interior design to take inspiration for my scrapbooking. The mixed patterns currently seen in fashion were so fun to implement on this page. Attention to color and scale really ties it all together!

Simple Elegance

I wanted this page to be very clean, simple, and classic. I love the subtle embellishing and photo enlargement. The lace sticker must be 15 years old, but I knew I was saving it for something perfect!! Simple elegance. Thanks to Steph for letting me continue to add to her guestbook a year later...
